Exciting News

Dear Members,
For more than 130 years, the National Council of Jewish Women Greater Kansas City has brought members together to improve the lives of women, children, and families throughout our community. Through volunteer service, advocacy, education, and philanthropy, we have created meaningful impact and valuable connections. Today, we are excited to share an important step in our journey.
Together We Welcome Change
After two years of careful consideration, our Board of Directors has voted to become an independent local non-profit. This decision follows structural changes at the National Council of Jewish Women, Inc. including an advocacy-only focus, and restrictions on local control over programming, operations, and staffing. Independence ensures we can safeguard the work our members value most, while expanding our impact and engagement right here in Kansas City. We are proud to introduce our new name:

Together we honor the legacy of NCJW and the women who built it.
Together we live the Jewish value of tikkun olam—repairing the world through action.
Together we create meaningful connections and lifelong friendships.
Together we support and strengthen our community.
Together we inspire the next generation of Jewish women leaders.
What Will This Mean for Us?
Our name is changing and you will notice updated branding, including a new website, logo, and office email address. However, the spirit, relationships, and drive that have defined our local section will remain as strong as ever for our 550 members.
- Memberships will transition seamlessly.
- Programs, events, and community initiatives will continue.
- Existing donations will continue to support our mission and operations as intended.
- Donations remain tax-deductible as they are today.
- Life memberships will continue to be honored.
- Annual membership dues will remain unchanged at $40.
Most importantly, our commitment to Jewish values, community service, education, and connection will remain unchanged.
Let’s Come Together and Learn More
We hope you will join us with confidence and pride as we embrace this exciting, new beginning. Your voice and participation are important as we move forward. We invite members to learn more about Jewish Women Together (JWT) at one of two informational Q&A sessions:
- Tuesday, August 25 at 9:30 am or
- Thursday, August 27 at 5:30 pm
- Location: Both sessions will be held in the Social Hall at The J.
On Tuesday, September 1 at 7:00 pm, mark your calendars to attend an important, in-person meeting in the Social Hall at The J. During this meeting, we will vote on disassociating from NCJW and adopting new bylaws.
With excitement for our shared future and next chapter, we look forward to continuing this meaningful journey. Together, we will honor our proud legacy while embracing an exciting future built on our shared Jewish values, meaningful relationships, and commitment to repairing the world.
