Getting out the vote requires one very important ingredient: more voters. Those are voters already registered who fail to vote regularly and equally important, those who have yet to even register.

Next Monday, we’ll hear Marie Hernandez and Debbie Kitchin, voter information chairs from the Johnson County League of Women Voters, describe their work registering new voters and then getting them to vote. They’ll be joined by Leslie Butsch, Field Director of ACLU Kansas, discussing her work in restoring citizens’ voting rights. She’ll explain the ACLU’s new program to register formerly incarcerated Kansans plus plans for election protection.
