Like all forms of gun violence, domestic violence affects multiple people: the primary victim, any children involved, plus extended family members. Thankfully, not all domestic violence ends in death, but its trauma, fear, and sadness often last a lifetime.
As Domestic Violence Awareness Month in October approaches, we’ve invited Trina Mourning-Dodson, founder and executive director for Circle of Hope, to outline the therapy and other resources her local organization provides to children who have witnessed homicide. Her brother Arthur, a father of six children, was shot at his Kansas City home and died the day before Thanksgiving in 2016.
Join us September 23 to learn more about Circle of Hope and the variety of programs and services it offers, including individual and group counselling, support groups, mentors and life coaches.
Following Trina’s presentation and Q/A session, you’re invited to stay and address postcards in GGS’ ongoing efforts in The Year of the Vote.
(Additional parking is also available in the Macy’s lot west of the church.)
