What is a CHIP? Why You Should Care!
CHIP stands for Community Health Improvement Plan. Plans are usually prepared by health departments and hospitals every three to five years, with the goals of addressing public health issues such as health care access, mental health and violence prevention, including building youth support, and gun violence prevention.
While the purpose of the CHIPs are the same in every community, their issues and efforts can be quite different, yet all have an impact on the well-being of the citizens of the community served. That’s why we should all be aware of them, particularly those that address gun violence and gun safety.
Join us Feb. 23 to hear representatives from Johnson County Mental Health Association, Kansas City Health Department, and Wyandotte County Public Health Department share how they develop and work their plans.
