Grandparents for Gun Safety

“It’s like a war zone out there….” is just one comment Sam Kim and Rithvik Talluri, second year UMKC School of Medicine students, heard as they surveyed houseless people who received care at UMKC’s free, student-run, Sojourner Health Clinic. Gun violence directly affected Kim and Talluri when they were forced to hide during a shooting in their apartment building last year.

Plan to attend the next GGS general meeting Feb. 24 to learn more about the fear, trauma and pain experienced by their patients – and how Sam and Rithvik plan to advocate for stronger gun laws when they have completed their medical training. Sam is president of the UMKC Students Demand Action.
