Deliver Meals for JFS
2:00 pm — 4:00 pm
Please see the description.
JFS has asked for our help to deliver meals on the second and fourth Thursdays of the month. The second Thursday of the month is heavily Jackson County, MO. The fourth Thursday is heavily Johnson County, KS. They would like 8-12 drivers (or driver pairs) per Thursday. Volunteers will need to arrive on those days anytime between 2 and 3 p.m. CST. If they have to cancel for weather, the deliveries are moved to the following Sunday.
Routes should take no longer than 2 hours to complete. Volunteers are given the client’s address and route maps so that they can complete their deliveries. There is someone available by phone at JFS if there is a problem. Carts are available for folks if needed. Volunteers should expect to be able to lift about 20-25 pounds as this is the weight of the box.
The volunteers would serve some of the most vulnerable people in our community. So many of these clients are older adults, have physical challenges, are blind/deaf, or have no mode of transportation to get them to any food pantry in the Metro. This often means they are isolated, and JFS providing food to them really makes their day! Just seeing another person does! If you are able to volunteer, please email NCJW at ncjwofkc@gmail.com. Thank you!
