March 6
Kansans for Bodily Autonomy Day at the capitol
9:00 am — 3:00 pm
Kansas Capitol, & SW 8TH SOUTHWEST VAN BUREN St, Topeka, KS 66612
Extreme Kansas Republicans are coming after our safe, effective, and essential health care.
Planned Parenthood Great Plains is fighting back – RSVP join us for Kansans for Bodily Autonomy Day at the capitol on March 6!
This week our legislature will hear three anti-trans bills in committee that lack scientific fact, medical best practice, and basic compassion for fellow Kansans.
HB 2238 bans transgender and gender non-conforming children from participating in school sports. All children deserve to have the same opportunities to live, thrive, and participate in their communities.
SB 233 bans gender affirming health care for Kansans under age 18 by penalizing providers of this care. Gender-affirming care is medically necessary, safe, and–as the only evidence-based care for treating trans youth–it can literally save lives.
SB 180, which is misleadingly called “the women’s bill of rights,” creates rigid, misinformed gender distinctions that leave out intersex people and target trans kids.
It’s time for our legislators to stop bullying trans youth: ask yours to vote NO on HB 2238, SB 233 and SB 180 today!
It doesn’t stop there, today the Senate Public Health and Welfare Committee will hear SB 5, which seeks to ban telemedicine abortion.
Planned Parenthood Great Plains launched telehealth medication abortion services last December in Kansas. This effort to expand care options has allowed PPGP health centers to offer more appointment availability in a region of the country that has long faced gaps in provider coverage.
Banning telemedicine abortion doesn’t make medication abortion safer, but instead further delays the essential care patients need.
Tell your senator to vote NO on a telemedicine abortion ban now!
In partnership with Trust Women and URGE – Planned Parenthood Great Plains Votes is hosting a Kansans for Bodily Autonomy Day at the capitol! The day will consist of an advocacy training, legislative briefing, and meetings with your elected officials. We will provide refreshments for the day and plan to organize transportation to the capitol for our volunteers. RSVP today!
