Join NCJW for a meaningful day of service at Reconciliation Services and Thelma’s Kitchen!
Please review the following details to help ensure a smooth and enjoyable experience. Thelma’s Kitchen is a nonprofit community cafe and social venture. It brings people together over fresh, affordable meals in the heart of Kansas City-where dishes range from $1 to $15 for every budget. By sharing a meal or booking our social venture catering you are directly supporting mental health services, eviction prevention, ID assistance, and more for neighbors in need.

Before You Volunteer:
The Waiver must be completed prior to the event. It will be sent to you after you sign up.

Dress Appropriately: Wear closed-toed shoes and a hat or head covering for the day.
On Volunteer Day:
Address: 3101 Troost Ave., Kansas City, MO 64109.
Parking: See the included photo for parking instructions.
Entrance: Enter the building under the blue “RS” sign behind the bus stop.
Meet Up: Head into the cafe space (to the left of the lobby) to meet your team, get acquainted with the kitchen, and receive your role assignment.
Your Day at Thelma’s Kitchen:
Time: 10:30 AM – 2:30 PM.
Tasks: Support our cafe and catering operations, including cooking, bussing, running food, washing dishes, serving, and greeting our neighbors with a smile.
Orientation and Debrief:
At 10:30 AM, we’ll start with a brief orientation to the space.
After the cafe closes, we’ll debrief to reflect on your experience and discuss the impact of your service.
